Is She a Doctor? Is She a Coach? Is She… Superwoman?

Look! Up in the sky!

It’s a bird!

It’s a plane!

No, it’s… Dr. Tomi Mitchell!

Okay, maybe I’m not flying around in a cape (though I’d rock one), but juggling all my roles sometimes feels like superhero-level work. Doctor? Check. Certified coach? Check. International speaker, author, podcast host, and mother? Check, check, check—and check again.

I may not have X-ray vision, but I do have a knack for seeing straight into the heart of

someone’s challenges, cutting through the clutter and uncovering what truly needs attention. I’ve developed this skill from years of clinical experience and deep coaching work. And while I don’t leap tall buildings in a single bound, I help people scale the mental and emotional walls holding them back.

When Medicine Meets Meaning

By traditional standards, I’m a physician. Trained. Licensed. Clinically experienced. But titles don’t tell the whole story. Yes, I know how to diagnose and treat physical and mental conditions. But over the years, I realized something crucial: medicine alone often isn’t enough.

That’s where coaching came in.

Coaching isn’t about fixing people—it’s about helping them find their own answers. When I combined my medical expertise with coaching strategies rooted in neuroscience, positive psychology, and trauma-informed care, something powerful happened. My work deepened. My patient outcomes improved. Most importantly, people started healing in more holistic, meaningful ways.

The Best of Both Worlds

I live in the sweet spot where science meets soul in every patient interaction.

On one hand, I apply evidence-based medical knowledge to address health concerns. On the other hand, I use coaching tools to help people explore the why behind their symptoms. That’s where transformation happens—not just treating the symptoms but uncovering their origin story.

It’s like having superpowers in both hands:

● With my physician lens, I bring clarity to physical and mental health issues.

● With my coaching lens, I guide clients through the deeper emotional terrain, like burnout, trauma, mindset blocks, or lifestyle patterns.

The result? People don’t just walk away with prescriptions or advice. They leave feeling seen, empowered, and ready to reclaim their lives.

Humans Are Multidimensional—Yes, That Means You Too

Let’s be honest: we’re all walking around in shoes that could use a break (or at least better arch support), trying to balance multiple versions of ourselves. You might be a lawyer who sings in a jazz band. A teacher who paints watercolours on the weekend. A project manager who dreams of launching a bakery.

We’re told to “pick one lane” and stay in it. But life isn’t a straight highway—it’s a winding, unpredictable, beautifully messy road trip. Embracing your many sides doesn’t make you scattered—it makes you whole.

So, when people ask me, “Wait—are you a doctor or a coach?” I smile and say, “Yes.” Because I refuse to put myself—or anyone else—in a box.

Productivity with Purpose

In my clinical work, combining medical diagnostics with coaching insight makes every

interaction more dynamic and impactful. Sure, we address the migraines, insomnia, and anxiety, but we also explore the burnout behind them. We get curious about the self-sabotage, emotional overload, or old wounds that haven’t fully healed.

Sometimes that means helping someone realize their physical symptoms are connected to unresolved stress. Sometimes it’s supporting a professional who looks successful on paper but feels empty inside. Whatever the case, we don’t just treat—we transform.

This integrative approach not only makes my work more meaningful but also leads to lasting change for the people I serve.

You Don’t Need a Cape to Be Superhuman

So, is she a doctor? Yes.

A coach? Absolutely.

Superwoman? On certain days, it feels like it.

But here’s the truth: you don’t need a fancy title, a TEDx stage, or a letter behind your name to be extraordinary. Your humanity is your superpower. The way you show up, the way you care, the way you keep going when life feels impossible—that’s your cape.

Whether you’re a parent running on fumes, an entrepreneur chasing a dream, or a healthcare worker silently carrying the emotional weight of your job, you are already showing up in superhuman ways. You may not see it, but it’s there.

My Message to You

The world doesn’t need more people running on empty, hustling for their worth, or hiding their true selves behind a title or expectation. What it needs is you, fully expressed. Fully alive. Fully empowered.

So, what if we stopped trying to fit ourselves into narrow definitions of success and started embracing the whole picture?

You don’t have to choose one identity. You can be a scientist and a poet. A strategist and a

storyteller. A doctor and a dreamer.

You don’t have to save the world to be a hero—you just have to show up as the fullest version of you.

So, go ahead—be the superhero of your own story. Just maybe skip the spandex.
